Neuroscience Expert. Writer. Speaker. Moderator.

My mum tells me that when I was about 6, I set up a “lab” on the patio to investigate motivation in snails. My hypothesis? That snails would go from point A to point B more quickly if food were there - oh, how I relate! This story always surprises me, because I only remember being frustrated by science in school. I was usually completely lost within 5-minutes in and too scared to say I didn’t understand. It wasn’t until I went to university to study Human Biology that the genuine curiosity I had as a little girl returned. Like my early experiments on motivation in snails, I learned that getting from A to B in science is all about good storytelling. When science is communicated in a way that invites curiosity rather than confusion, it becomes irresistibly engaging. This early experience has shaped my mission to ensure that no one feels shame for not understanding science.

As a neuroscientist and passionate science communicator, I blend the art of storytelling with the rigor of scientific inquiry to curate culturally resonant narratives. My work extends beyond mere communication; it is about creating spaces where science is a shared language, enriching the tapestry of our collective experience. As a black woman in STEM and a mother, I embody the diversity I advocate for, driving change from the intersection of my personal and professional worlds. I stand for a future where science belongs to everyone, breaking down barriers to create inclusive and accessible platforms for discovery. My mission is to empower individuals with the transformative power of scientific knowledge, fostering a society that values curiosity, understanding, and the profound impact of science in every aspect of life.
